Community Outreach and Service

Bethany is involved in several initiatives that we would like to share:
Community Outreach:
Kids Summer Reading Club with the Bethany “Bee”- Thursday Mornings in July.
Mission and Service:
Valley Youth House – Trash to Treasure Project, Summer 2018
Bethany is partnering with Valley Youth House Teen Shelter as a community drop site for Duffel Bags, Backpacks and small suitcases.    Often when teens leave the shelter they take their belongings in a trash bag.  Help us send the message to these youth that what they have,  and who they are,  is worth more than what goes in a trash bag!  Drop off items at Bethany UCC:  9-1 weekdays or on Sunday mornings.
SOCK HOP Thank You!
108 pairs of socks were collected at our Cinco de Mayo Sock Hop!  These will be distributed at the Stand Up Bethlehem Event to local people who are homeless or in need.  Thank You For your Support!
Stand Up Bethlehem
Every other month (typically the 2nd Saturday), a team from Bethany serves with STAND UP, a regular event where local veterans and others who are homeless or in need can receive free clothing, lunch, haircuts and toiletries.   Bethany volunteers serve as personal shopping assistants to offer kindness and help people find their sizes and items needed.  We meet at Christ UCC at the corner of Center and Market Streets in Bethlehem from about 10 am – 2 pm.  Call the Bethany church office for more information.
